Aims and values

Community Foundation Network (CFN) aims to promote the concept of community foundations in the UK, stimulate and support their growth and best practice, and give support to individual community foundations and their networking with others.

Our vision for the network of community foundations
  • To see members in aggregate and individually providing a unique channel for donors of all kinds to engage with their communities on a lasting basis.
  • Community foundations will be seen as catalysts of social changes, making philanthropy compelling and helping make communities better places to live, work and do business. Community foundations will be funding, connecting and convening effective charitable activity that creates stronger and more cohesive communities.
Our vision for CFN

  • an organisation that speaks authoritatively for members, adds value tothe work of members and leads the national development of the movement. To do this, CFN strives to be:
  • A learning and leadership organisation
  • A strong, confident, supportive, cooperative organisation that demonstrates respect, shows trust and understanding, and practices integrity in all its activities
  • Supportive of, and encouraging towards, open communication both internally and externally
  • Open and transparent in all its operations
  • Inclusive, welcoming diversity and practising equal opportunity
  • A model of good staff practice to members and potential members

CFN welcomes feedback from members, potential donors and professional advisers as well as those aspiring to develop a community foundation in the UK or keen to know more about philanthropy through the community foundation movement.
