Founded by Liverpool FC's number 23, the 23 Foundation provides the youth of Merseyside with the means to make a difference in society by giving them an outlet through football and sport. Jamie established the 23 Foundation at the beginning of 2009 with the Community Foundation for Merseyside in order to provide grants to young people in communities. This saw Jamie donating the proceeds from his testimonial in 2010 to create the fund which now is valued at over £1 million.
For his extraordinary commitment to Merseyside and dedication to strategic philanthropy that will support grassroots organisations for generations to come, Jamie won the coveted Philanthropist of the Year Award in June 2011 at the Spirit of Merseyside Awards. The 23 Foundation demonstrates the impact than can be made with a strategic and clear approach to achieving life-changing outcomes for young people across the region.
