Sport Relief Evening Standard Dispossessed Fund

A new one-off programme from Sport Relief and the Evening Standard's Dispossessed Fund was launched on Friday, 23rd March 2012 and will make £1million available to help disadvantaged people living in the capital.

Sport Relief is making a grant of £1million to the Evening Standard's Dispossessed Fund (ESDF).

Sport Relief and The ESDF are making grants of £5,000 - £20,000 available to small community and voluntary organisations in London that are doing great work to help local people living tough lives.

Every penny raised will change the lives of people here in the capital, across the rest of the UK and in the world's poorest countries.

To apply for a grant go to  http://dispossessedfund.communityfoundations.org.uk/  before Friday, 4th May 2012.

Who is eligible to apply for a Sport Relief/ESDF grant?

Groups eligible to apply for Sport Relief/ESDF grants need to:

  • Be working in a disadvantaged or deprived area within the specified boundaries
  • Be small community and voluntary organisations, small registered charities and small social enterprises with an income of less than £250,000

The themes under which groups can apply coincide with the themes the Evening Standard's Dispossessed fund already has in place:

  • Getting people into work such as through apprenticeship or mentor schemes
  • Fighting gangs, knife and gun crime
  • Improving mental and physical health and well-being, such as through sports clubs and helping carers
  • Addressing other manifestations of poverty such as homelessness, pensioner poverty or the working poor
