Legacy funds

“Doreen loved children but sadly we were not blessed with children of our own. As the sole surviving member of my family, the family line would have ended eventually but with the help of The Sussex Community Foundation, that will not now happen.  The Foundation has set up a fund in my name and that of my late wife. Not only will the fund be a permanent memorial to us both but more importantly, the income generated by the fund will provide a contribution to the financial needs of some of the many worthy and deserving causes that exist throughout East and West Sussex.”

Be remembered by your community. Could you consider helping your community for years to come by leaving a gift to your local community foundation?

Legacies make a lasting difference.  They are the foundation of many of the good causes in the UK and are vital in continuing their work and in planning for the future. The reality is that without the gifts left in Wills many of the charities we know and support today wouldn't even exist.

The astounding work carried out by organisations receiving grants from community foundations is possible only through the donations and actions of local people.

Once you have left any gifts to family and friends, you may wish to remember a charity in your Will. Your community can be included as part of your legacy.  By leaving a legacy to your local community foundation, you can help your community for generations to come. Your gift will make a lasting impact on many lives, and magnify the impact of local charities.

Legacies of all sizes are left to charities. They ALL make a difference and can transform the lives of the local community in which you live.

Leaving a legacy will cost you nothing today. But it will make a difference to the lives of future generations.

Changes to Inheritance Tax

Measures to increase charitable giving were announced by the Chancellor in the last Budget. Anyone leaving 10 per cent of their estate to charity in their Will from 6 April 2012 will benefit from a reduction in Inheritance Tax from 40% to 36%.
